The project

The project named "TECNOLOGIE INNOVATIVE PER LA GESTIONE DI RISORSE IDRICHE ALTERNATIVE IN CLIMI ARIDI" has been proposed within an international cooperation program (LR 19/96) financed by the Sardinian Region (RAS).

The participating institutions are:

University of Cagliari, Department of Territorial Engineering (DIT)
Center for Advanced Studies, Research and Development in Sardinia (CRS4)
Ente Autonomo del Flumendosa (EAF)
University Abdelmalek Essadi - Faculty of Sciences, Tetouan

Objectives

The common aim is to study costal aquifers within the Meditterranean basin which are affected by contamination phenomena and to develop ICT tools and methodologies to study/interpret contamination dynamics. Mosltly in Mediterranean regions (Sardinia and Marocco are just two examples) overexploitations and the wrong positioning of wells together with prolonged drought periods are often causing seawater intrusion.
